Exhibition Statement (provided by the artist)

Joy Meyer’s work is motivated by her interest in the exploration of color and shape. In her large, abstract oil paintings she often plays with the boundaries separating the abstract and the figural. In the large, colorful paintings, included in the upcoming show, the lines between interior scene painting and landscape painting are often blurred. In “What is this Place?,”Joy Meyer’s abstract work seeks to explore the tension between wildness and domesticity.
