Exhibition Statement (provided by the artist)

“Drifting Ledge” is a unique perception of nature’s gradual change in the form of interlaced fibers. Odd designs create their own story of a slow journey, with an ever-transpiring need to adapt shape without structure. “Drifting Ledge” transforms simple remnants into woven palettes — an exploration into the constant drifting of times & land using natural objects & dyes.

About the Artist (provided by the artist)

Laura Rogers is an emerging fiber artist residing in the lush countryside of Charlottesville, VA. She primarily explores using mixed media of silk, wool, cotton and other found objects to create woven soft sculptures. Her interests are highly interconnected to her work style — recycling scraps of wool from vintage clothing and silk from a local textile designer, using authentic and ancient weaving techniques, and incorporating found nature into all works. Her pieces reflect a relaxed, yet modern proposition and are a rare addition to any art collection. Gathering inspiration from daily occurrences, her daughter Tallulah, quiet moments, ever-changing landscapes, expressive style, and living in the present, she is able to keep calm attention to detail in each of her weavings.
