Exhibition Opening for “Essing, Fawning, Gawping, Hocking, Isling, Jostling, Keening, Legging, Moping, Nodding, Ooling, Putzing, Querling”

Join us for an exhibition opening on April 7, 2023 from 5:00-7:30PM for Essing, Fawning, Gawping, Hocking, Isling, Jostling, Keening, Legging, Moping, Nodding, Ooling, Putzing, Querling, an installation by Conrad Cheung. An artist talk and guest performance by friend of the artist, Retta, will be held at 6PM. Retta, who is nine years old, will give tours of the exhibition between 5-7PM.

This opening is part of Charlottesville’s First Friday Art Walk. The event is free and open to the public. All ages are welcome. This exhibition includes sculpture with forms derived from children’s toys and books that invite play and participatory performance. All ages are welcome.

Located at 114 3rd St. NE, Welcome Gallery is downtown, storefront art space in Charlottesville, VA, run by New City Arts Initiative, a non-profit community arts organization. This same location houses NCAI staff offices and a studio space.
