Exhibiting Artist, Artist Exchange
Amanda Wagstaff is a visual artist who builds quilts and textile objects with salvaged fabrics & natural dyes. Using simple sewing techniques, she draws out the poetic & expressive potential of these commonplace materials.
Amanda grew up on a farm in southern Virginia and comes from a family of makers: farmers, builders, gardeners, artists, teachers… She studied art at William & Mary and UNC-Greensboro, and researched pilgrimage and monastic practices in Dublin, Ireland, where she adopted textiles & fibers as her primary medium. She currently maintains a studio in her home near Charlottesville, VA.
