About the Artist (provided by the artist)

Joan Griffin has been weaving for 30 years and is a full time studio artist who divides her time between hand weaving tapestries for exhibitions and commissions. Her degrees include an MFA in Textile Design (Antioch University) and BS Art Education (S.U.N.Y. College, Buffalo, NY). She has taught at various art centers, colleges and high schools. She was also Research Assistant to Irene Emery, curator emeritus at The Textile Museum in Washington, D.C. Currently, Joan teaches weekend workshops in her Charlottesville studio.
