From August 6-September 15, 2027 New City Arts will present an exhibition by Hannah Kade.
“Instead of an enclosed sequential book,” Hannah shares about the work, “an open gallery space with narrative, visual and text forward graphite drawings to be read in whichever order is seen first. A mundane collection of communal human experiences that open the door similar ideation and unique unseen perspective.”
Hannah Kade (she/her) is an interdisciplinary artist and designer from Detroit, MI and holds a BFA from College for Creative Studies. Her primary practice consists of stylistic graphite drawing, with an emphasis on being highly detailed and emotive. Kade’s work focuses on seemingly mundane narratives and in this exploration looks to reveal a previously unseen perspective. In her current studio at Visible Records in Charlottesville, VA, Kade’s inspiration relies on the history, personalities and working hands of people around her to help peel-back daily motions that exist as much more than they let on.
Located at 114 3rd St. NE on Charlottesville’s downtown pedestrian mall, New City Arts’ Welcome Gallery supports artists who live in the Charlottesville area. Welcome Gallery exhibitions and programs are made possible by generous sponsors, donors, and grants. Interested in sponsoring an exhibition? Connect with us!
