The 15th edition of Charlottesville SOUP will be held on Monday, November 15, 2021 starting at 7:30PM. In light of the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, we’re taking SOUP to Zoom. Tickets are required to attend this special “TV Dinner” edition. Tickets are available for purchase here, through November 2 at 9:00PM. Applications to present are open through November 3 at 11:59PM (deadline extended).
What is SOUP?
SOUP is a seasonal public dinner series to support creative projects right here in Charlottesville. At each SOUP, attendees give a $10 donation and in return they receive soup, salad, bread, dessert—and a vote. During the meal, community members make short presentations about their creative projects in need of funding. At the end of the meal, each attendee enters a voting booth to cast his or her vote for which project to fund with the money raised from the meal that night. We’ll award the grant right then and there. Consider SOUP an experiment in civic engagement and a chance to play a role in supporting creativity in our community.
SOUP: TV Dinner Edition
At our virtual event on November 15, get to know Charlottesville artists, vote on your favorite creative project, and enjoy a delicious dinner — all from a warm, cozy spot on the couch. Attendees will hear up to four local artists pitch their creative projects in need of funding. At the end of the evening, each attendee will cast their vote for which project to fund with the money raised from the ticket sales.
Our friends at Pearl Island and Baker No Bakery are collaborating with us to create a delicious meal you can enjoy while you listen to the night’s presentations. When purchasing a ticket attendees living in the Charlottesville area can indicate that they would like dinner.

Tickets to this event are available here, through November 2 at 9PM. Here’s what you need to know:
All tickets are $10 each, regardless of whether or not your ticket includes a meal. 100% of each $10 ticket purchase is pooled to create the artist grant. Thanks to our sponsors, we've been able to cover dinner from Pearl Island and Baker No Bakery up to 175 attendees, so the ticket price to attend is unrelated to the cost of the meal.
All attendees need a ticket in order to submit a vote and receive a dinner. (For example, if there are three people in your household who plan to watch, eat dinner, and cast a vote for their favorite project, you will need three tickets).
Dinner is available to anyone able to pick up their order from Pearl Island. Pick-up times and instructions will be sent via email closer to the event. Dinners are limited. To indicate that you would like a dinner with your SOUP ticket, select “SOUP Ticket + Dinner” with the protein option of your choice.
What's on the menu? Choose between mains like Sous Poulet and Jerk Chicken and Curry Tofu and Creole Beans. Each dinner is gluten-free and includes Kale Salad and Rice with Pigeon Peas. Dessert from Baker No Bakery will also be available.

November 2021 Presenters
Shandoah Rose Goldman: An interdisciplinary artist, creating an immersive performance, Social Dance, at Mad Bowl rugby field on the UVA campus. Funding will support a cast of 14 local performers.
Karina Monroy: A Chicana artist planning to create Niña de Tierra, a new body of work and community workshop focused on inner child healing through art for Latina women and women of color.
A.D. Carson: A rapper planning to master the open-access album he submitted for his doctoral dissertation and digital archive.
Marley Nichelle: A photographer and curator who seeks to fund the Geechie Marley Experience, a multimedia documentation of African Diaspora pertaining to Ghanian and Gullah culture at Second Street Gallery.
