The Maker's Series: Fall 2013

The Garage and New City Arts Initiative present The Maker's Series, the first of which will be held on Friday, September 27, 2013 from 7-9 PM in Meade Hall (located at Christ Episcopal Church, on the corner of 2nd St. and Jefferson St. NW across from McGuffey Park).

A print entitled "Leviathan" by Clay Witt. It is an abstract print of a ring of fire buring on an ocean with smoke and flames rising before a gray-blue sky.

After a four-year hiatus, we're very pleased to relaunch The Makers Series — a once beloved artist salon, originally launched in 2008 at Christ Church. Three Charlottesville presenters will be featured — a creative writer, a visual artist and a musician - each showcasing their work and sharing the story of their creative process. The last 30 minutes will be devoted to Q&A.

Emma Rathbone (has been featured in The New Yorker and recently published her first novel) will be the featured creative writer; Clay Witt (has designed layouts for Time Magazine and The New York Times Magazine) will present a collection of prints; and Carl Anderson (beloved local songwriter) will be performing his songs.

The Makers Series is meant to be a platform in which artists can present their work on a personal level and then engage in a thoughtful, yet informal conversation with their audience. This event is free and open to the public. Questions? Email Sam Bush.
