Juried Show: A Call for Submissions
New City Arts Initiative seeks entries for “Neighbors,” a juried art exhibit of local artists in collaboration with UVA’s Humanities Week. New City Arts supports Charlottesville artists through exhibit openings and other community-driven programs that build bridges among different audiences.
For our April show at theWVTF & Radio IQ Studio Gallery, New City Arts invites local artists to respond to the exhibit theme of "Neighbors." How are we connected to (or disconnected from) the people we see everyday from our front porch, on our commutes, and in our community? What challenges affect those who live or work closest to us? What does it actually mean to be a part of a neighborhood?
ELIGIBILITY
Visual artists in the Charlottesville area are encouraged to apply.
ELIGIBLE MEDIA
Drawing, painting, mixed media, photography, and small sculpture. Collaborative pieces welcome. Film, music, or larger sculpture is not encouraged given the size limitations of the space. One submission per artist. Work does not need to be new and can have been previously shown locally.
SUBMIT
To apply, artists should fill out this short form and submit an image of the work that includes the title, size, medium, and a small statement about how it relates to the theme. If accepted, work should be delivered the week of March 27-31. All work must be framed and/or ready to be hung on wire.
We hope all participating artists will attend the opening on Friday, April 7 at the WVTF & Radio IQ Studio Gallery as part of April’s First Fridays Artwalk.
