Exhibition Opening for I Am A Man
Join New City Arts at Welcome Gallery on September 2, 2016, from 5:00-7:30PM for an opening reception for I Am A Man, an exhibit including photographs, sculpture, mixed media, and paintings by Hank Willis Thomas. This exhibition is presented by New City Arts, the Black Professional Network of Charlottesville, and Human/Ties, a four-day celebration of the 50th Anniversary of the National Endowment for the Humanities hosted by the University of Virginia and made possible with support from the Andrew W. Mellon Foundation.
This opening is part of Charlottesville’s First Friday Art Walk. The event is free and open to the public. All ages are welcome.

Human/Ties is a four-day celebration of the 50th Anniversary of the National Endowment for the Humanities, hosted by the University of Virginia and made possible with support from the Andrew W. Mellon Foundation and features Junot Díaz, Alice Waters, Henry Louis Gates, Jr., David Simon, Hank Willis Thomas, Annette Gordon-Reed, Jamelle Bouie, Sarah Lewis, Lulu Miller, and over 80 other speakers. Located at 114 3rd St. NE, Welcome Gallery is downtown, storefront art space in Charlottesville, VA, run by New City Arts Initiative, a non-profit community arts organization. This same location houses NCAI staff offices and a studio space.
