Community Sing

Join New City Arts Initiative for a collaborative community sing at Welcome Gallery on Tuesday, December 19, led by resident artist Juliana Daugherty and Charlottesville musicians Claire Hitchins, Sam Bush, and Guion Pratt.

A photograph of visitors seated in the Welcome Gallery for Community Sing. Figures and hanging artworks are out of focus through the large glass window with stenciled letters that read "Welcome Gallery."

These musicians have arranged “community hymns” to be sung by community members (no choir training required) and recorded at New City Arts. This project is inspired by Peter Broderick's Beacon Sound Choir, an amateur singing group in Portland, OR.

Light refreshments will be provided. Doors will open at 6:30PM for mingling and refreshments, and singing will begin at 7PM.

Together at the event, we'll learn and practice new songs together. Sheet music will be available, but you don't have to be able to read music to attend. No experience necessary! The event is free and open to the public. All ages welcome.

RSVP is requested but not required. To RSVP, either email Lindsey at lindsey@newcityarts.org or let us know you're coming on our Facebook event.
