Rooted in collaboration and performance, and often incorporating a background in printmaking, Patrick Costello’s work spans the disciplines of drawing, sculpture, ecological horticulture, and theater. Making projects informed by queer and intersectional feminist practices, Patrick collaborates with people and landscapes to create spaces for collective transformation, wild imagining, and utopian possibility. These DIY attempts at temporary world-building provide ephemeral moments for practicing regenerative ways of making and being together, taking foundational cues from composting and other circular economies. Costello’s projects nudge us to reflect on what our shared humanity asks of us – in relation to one another, our histories, and the ecosystems of which we are a part.
