Karina Monroy

Karina Monroy is a California born Chicana mixed media artist based in Charlottesville, Virginia. She holds a B.A. in art and anthropology from the University of California, Santa Cruz and is currently a graduate Art Therapy student at The George Washington University. Karina's work explores the divinity and healing nature of femininity within Chicanx and Mexican/American culture. Through needlework, painting, sculpture and drawing, Karina creates delicate images and objects as sacred restorative offerings for herself and her feminine ancestors.

Karina won the November 2021 Charlottesville SOUP grant to create Niña de Tierra, a new body of work and community workshop focused on inner child healing through art for Latina women and women of color.
