Exhibition Statement (provided by the artist)

You have heard it said that a picture can say a thousand words. A picture can also say things you have no words for. How do we explain the complex workings of our ever evolving psyche? How can we capture something that has no form and never stops moving? Something that is not quite a feeling nor yet even an idea? Can we grab hold of a visual image that conveys a vast mystery? I guess that's the artist's job.

About the Artist (provided by the artist)

Michael Doyle is a sculptor and a master carpenter. He also draws.

Michael graduated with a Bachelors of Fine Arts from the Massachusetts College of Art and Design before moving to Vermont to work as a sculptor's assistant to David Strohmyer, making large-scale steel sculptures. In 1989, Michael moved to Virginia and started his own business called Sculpture and Iron Works as well as a carpentry contractor business. He now works as a lead carpenter for Lithic Construction and does pen drawings because he can carry the necessary tools in a knapsack.
