From April 22-24, New City Arts presents work in partnership with The Fralin’s Early Visions program. The exhibition includes individual and collaborative pieces by 50 students from Southwood, Cherry Avenue, and Albemarle Campus Boys & Girls Clubs. Student artists, their families, and UVA mentors will celebrate the work at three exhibition openings throughout the week. The public is invited to see the exhibition during Welcome Gallery open hours (Wed-Fri, 10AM-4PM).

This is the 4th annual Early Visions exhibition at Welcome Gallery. In 2023, New City Arts Spring Intern and UVA student Lauren Campbell set an internship goal to create a new opportunity for young artists to present work at Welcome Gallery. Through her research, Lauren helped facilitate a partnership between New City Arts and The Fralin’s Early Visions program—a collaboration that continues today. Following her New City Arts internship, Lauren became a docent at The Fralin Museum of Art. She is now a first grade teacher.

Located at 114 3rd St. NE on Charlottesville’s downtown pedestrian mall, New City Arts’ Welcome Gallery supports artists who live in the Charlottesville area. Welcome Gallery exhibitions and programs are made possible by generous sponsors, donors, and grants. Interested in sponsoring an exhibition? Connect with us!
