Exhibition Statement (provided by the artist)
Chrissy sees the role of painter as part historian, part archaeologist. It is this philosophy and fascination with the natural world that inspires her approach to subject matter and process — excavating and studying the small details and slowly building upon colors and forms until something is revealed. Chrissy works with a variety of media including pastels, oil sticks, pencils and oil paint to draw into the canvas, adding to each existing layer until the system completes itself.
