Do you want to learn more about photographing your work, writing a bio or artist statement, or creating a professional CV? Join us on Tuesday, March 19 from 5:30-7PM for an artist-led workshop for anyone interested in learning more about these common components of application and proposals for exhibitions, residencies, and fellowships.
This workshop will be led by Charlottesville artists Sarah Boyts Yoder, Federico Cuatlacuatl, and Lydia Moyer. Anyone is welcome to attend. Presenters will lead short presentations on each proposal component, followed by a brief Q/A and time to connect with other attendees and presenters. Pizza will be provided.

Sarah Boyts Yoder is a mixed media painter based in Charlottesville, VA. She received an MFA in painting from James Madison University in 2006. Boyts Yoder's work has been featured in numerous publications and exhibitions throughout the United States including the Virginia Museum of Contemporary Art. Her work has been included in Fresh Paint Magazine (#10), Studio Visit Magazine (#13) and FOA (Friend of the Artist, Issue #5). In 2014, she was awarded a professional fellowship in painting from the Virginia Museum of Fine Arts. Sarah has twice been a fellow at the Virginia Center for the Creative Arts (2013, 2014) and a resident artist at 100W Corsicana in Corsicana, TX in June of 2017 and 2018. She was also a finalist for the Bethesda Painting Awards in 2018.

Federico Cuatlacuatl is an Indigenous artist born in Cholula, Puebla, Mexico. He then immigrated to Indiana and received his MFA specializing in Digital Arts at the Bowling Green State University. Federico’s work is invested in disseminating topics of Latinx immigration, social art practice, and cultural sustainability. Building from his own experience growing up as an undocumented immigrant and previously holding DACA (Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals), Federico’s research is primarily concerned with pressing realities in current social, political, and cultural issues that Latinx undocumented immigrants face in the U.S. As founder and director of the Rasquache Artist Residency in Puebla, Mexico, he actively stays involved in socially engaged works and binational endeavors.

Lydia Moyer is a visual artist and media maker based in Virginia. Her video and print work has been shown nationally and internationally in galleries, arts centers, and film festivals for twenty years. She in associate professor of art at UVA.

Located at 114 3rd St. NE, Welcome Gallery is downtown, storefront art space in Charlottesville, VA, run by New City Arts Initiative, a non-profit community arts organization. This same location houses NCAI staff offices and a studio space.
