An image of the Welcome Gallery window taken from outside and looking into the gallery where framed art is arranged along white walls. There is a painting mounted on an easel facing the street.

Bring the 3rd St. Welcome Gallery window to life for passersby with your work. As we hunker down and keep each other safe by staying apart, we’re finding daily walks to be a source of inspiration and refreshment. Inspired by The Bridge’s city-wide gallery, ArtApart, we’re inviting artists to transform our window with a drawing or art installation and add an opportunity for neighbors out on a walk to take in art.

Interested in submitting a proposal? Read on for details and some parameters:

  • The dimensions of the window are approximately 112" (w) x 73" (h). Each pane is 56" (w) x 73" (h).

  • Drawings and installations cannot block out the entire window. City regulations require that 50% of the window remain clear. A drawing or installation may utilize the whole space, but space between work should amount to approximately 50% of the surface area.

  • Window drawings may be done with water-soluable markers. New City Arts has some available for the artist to use.

  • Work may be taped to window, installed behind the window, or hung facing the window from the ceiling*.

  • Projections and the use of screens cannot be supported at this time.

  • New City Arts does not exhibit explicit content. Offensive language, graphic nudity, and obscene violence are not permitted.

  • Artists are required to handle installation. A New City Arts staff member will sanitize the space prior to installation and will remain on site, at a safe distance, during installation.

*Heavy items cannot be hung from ceiling.
