Laura Lee Gulledge (she/her/we) is a Charlottesville-based artist and author of magical realism style graphic novels for young adults. The most recent “The Dark Matter of Mona Starr” (Abrams Books) explores dealing with depression. Her books have been nominated for the prestigious Eisner and Harvey Awards as well as being selected for YALSA Teen’s Top Ten.

Laura Lee explores visual storytelling at the intersection of words, images, movement, co-creation, wellness, and citizen artistry. She shares her passion with youth thru customized workshops & residencies with schools across Virginia and beyond. #artnerlove

Laura Lee won the Spring 2018 Charlottesville SOUP grant to pencil, ink, shade, and letter her upcoming YA graphic novel about Mona Starr, a modern teenager struggling with depression and loneliness whose personal research project leads to friendship, expression, and healing.
