Lady Taij (she/her) is a multifaceted hip hop artist and songwriter from Virginia. Blending lyricism with contemporary flows and new-age harmonies, her sound is both timeless and forward-thinking. Inspired by icons like Lil Wayne, Eve, and Rapsody, she brings authenticity, substance, and poetic storytelling to every track. Lady Taij has been featured on the video game NBA 2k. In 2024 & 2025, she earned the award of Best Female Hip Hop Artist from Soul of Cville Best In Black, and made history as the first female hip hop artist to perform at the Ting Pavilion Friday’s After Five in Charlottesville. She has also performed at The Paramount Theater and the Tom Tom Foundation’s Block Party. With growing momentum, Lady Taij continues to solidify her place as a rising force in hip hop.
Lady Taij is the Fall 2026 New City Artist-in-Residence. Her project,“Who Owns the Block,” explores Black homeownership, wealth, and community through storytelling, music, and conversations that examine who gets to own, shape, and remain in our neighborhoods.
