David Guinn

Working at the intersection of art, architecture and community building, David Guinn was trained as an architect at Columbia University. He began painting murals in Philadelphia in
1999. His work centers on large-scale painted murals and immersive installations, marrying traditional mural painting with LED lighting to create iconic spaces that function day and night. David has created public and private commissions throughout Philadelphia and other cities worldwide including Amman, Jordan, Skien, Norway, Montreal, Quebec, Halifax, Nova Scotia, New York, Los Angeles, Washington DC, Chicago, and Charlottesville, VA. He is the recipient of a Knight Arts Challenge grant, an Independence Foundation Fellowship, and a Mid-Atlantic Arts Foundation Fellowship in the Arts. His work has been widely noted in the media. As an educator and organizer, David founded and directs Arcadia Public Art and The Percy Street Project; both dedicated to building community through public art in Glenside, PA, and South Philadelphia, respectively. David is on the faculty of Arcadia University.
