Graduate Hotel 2016 Mural
In partnership with the Charlottesville Mural Project, New City Arts presents the third mural in the Paint and Poetry series.

Located on the west and south-facing facades of the new Graduate hotel, the Charlottesville Mural Project and New City Arts worked with two world-class artists: Charlottesville poet Rita Dove, and muralist David Guinn.

This mural brings public art to the everyday lives of UVa students and Charlottesville residents. The mural enlivens The Corner, and adds to the vibrancy of student life in the restaurants, shops, and hotels.
David Guinn's mural design incorporates Rita Dove’s poems, Testimonial, chosen by both Dove and Guinn, because of the positive message that may inspire and relate to UVa students and the Charlottesville community at large. The mural design was approved unanimously by the Board of Architectural Review in September 2015. David Guinn completed the mural in summer 2016.
This mural is a part of the Charlottesville Mural Project and New City Arts Paint + Poetry Mural Series and is made possible by the support of The Graduate Hotel and UVa Arts.
