Michelle Gagliano is an American artist whose work explores landscape as a site of memory, transformation, and cultural resonance. Informed by historical and contemporary European art discourse, her practice emphasizes material presence, process, and the poetic potential of modest and found elements.

Her work is held in many permanent museum collections, such as the Virginia Museum of Fine Arts, Richmond, VA, Casa Natale di Raffaello Museum, Urbino, Italy, Burchfield Penny Museum, Buffalo, N.Y., Brigham Young University Museum of Art, Provo, Utah, and the University of Virginia, Charlottesville, VA. She is the recipient of the VMFA Visual Arts Fellowship and has participated in residencies at the Virginia Center for the Creative Arts (VCCA) and the Chautauqua School of Fine Arts. In 2025, her work was the subject of an artist monograph, Michelle Gagliano: Cultivating the Sublime, published by Silvana Editoriale, Milan.
