The Charlottesville Mural Project

Partnering together for Paint & Poetry, The Charlottesville Mural Project (CMP) and New City Arts produced 3 text-based murals at Charlottesville High School, The Graduate Hotel on the UVA Corner, and Starr Hill Brewery in Crozet, VA. Paint & Poetry is a public mural series that incorporates poetry into public art in the Charlottesville area.

At The Graduate Hotel on the historic UVA Corner, CMP and New City Arts worked with mural artist David Guinn and former US Poet Laureate and UVA Professor, Rita Dove. This mural was made possible by Graduate Hotels and the Office of the Provost and the Vice Provost for the Arts at UVA.

In Crozet, CMP and New City Arts worked with Central-VA-based artist Duncan Robertson and the band Hurray for the Riff Raff on a mural across from the Starr Hill Brewery Tap Room.  

At Charlottesville High School, CMP and New City Arts worked with CHS teachers to create a mural designed by art students featuring a poem by a creative writing student.
