Exhibition Statement (provided by the artist)

Proceed, Jumble, Repeat is a collection of drawings and etchings that are the culmination Nina Thomas's spring residency at New City Arts. The works on paper are composed of repeated forms and patterns that build piles of figures, inextricable from one another; they are a musing on being surrounded.

About the Artist (provided by the artist)

Nina Thomas is the Spring 2017 New City Artist in Residence. Nina graduated from UVA in 2015 with a degree in Arts Administration and Studio Art, with a concentration in Printmaking. She lives in Charlottesville, where she works as a collections assistant at Rare Book School, and as an assistant in the UVA print shop. Nina makes drawings, collages, and prints through repetitive processes of mark-making as a means of wondering at and about the spaces and stories we share.
