The Improbable Figures series attempts to reconcile aesthetic and conceptual dualities through the use of black and white, light and dark, intimacy and detachment, recognition and mystery.
About the Artist (provided by the artist)
Lisa Ryan is a collage artist and illustrator who has created for YouTube, Esquire, Paste Quarterly and The Mockingbird. Her analog process — collecting source materials, cutting paper — is one of discovery, an intuitive response to color, form and subject. Her work explores themes of duality and balance within aesthetically minimal compositions.
