About Wes Swing
Dream-folk singer, cellist, multi-instrumentalist and composer Wes Swing performs his first Charlottesville concert since moving back to town from San Francisco. Wes Swing draws on classical, folk and alternative influences to create a "rich and lilting soundscape.” He took the last two years off from touring to record and write new music, and live performance as a duo features cello loops, synths, electronic beats and transcendent vocals. "Swing demonstrates his vocal prowess with delicate intonation," delivering lyrics imbued with poetry.
A love of the classics comes through in his imagist lyrics and arrangements. The debut album “Through a Fogged Glass” is a landscape of sound, written and arranged as one complete work. Swing wrote most of the album in a cabin in the Virginia woods. Since the release of "Through a Fogged Glass" Wes Swing has toured throughout the US and Europe. His music is featured regularly on NPR and by several modern dance companies.
About Claire Hitchins
Claire’s homespun musical sensibility was fashioned among the Blue Ridge Mountains of Virginia, formed as much by the deciduous forests and swimming holes of her home state as by the traditional songs of the American South. Her simple, soulful folk melodies weave a musical fabric that is at once spacious and intimate.
