Charlottesville SOUP at The Forum

Our 2014 New City Arts Forum dinner was a version of Charlottesville SOUP. This SOUP dinner was open to Forum attendees. Charlottesville artists with food-related projects applied for grants.

The meal was held at The Jefferson Theater with generous support from A Pimento Catering, Hill & Holler, The Jefferson Theater, Skyline Tent Company, Festive Fare, Champion Brewing Company, City Clay, and Charlottesville Commons. 


March 2014 Presenters

All of these projects connect to the Forum's theme of “Art, Food, and Community.”

  • Ashley Florence - an artist who wants to expand on her “Breadhead” series in a project inspired byConflict Kitchen

  • Shell Stern - a community organizer who wants to theatrically deliver pretzels from her cobb oven via bicycle while collecting oral histories in her Hogwaller neighborhood

  • Aaron Fein - a local artist who wants to explore the intersection of technology and art by making digital embroideries that serve as table runners

  • City Schoolyard Garden - a local group that wants to build a mosaic in a garden at an area public school


March 2014 Winner

New City Arts awarded Charlottesville artist Shell Stern won a $1,620 grant for her Pretzel Peddler initiative.
