Pop Up Exhibit at the Haven
Join New City Arts for a pop-up exhibit and mini reception for “Complete Thought,” new work by New City Artist-in-Residence at The Haven, Amanda Wagstaff, on Wednesday, March 11, 2015 from 5–7 PM in The Haven Sanctuary.
“Complete Thought” is a temporary installation featuring a 14 ft. “quilt” made of 90 pieces of loose-leaf paper sewn together (by hand) with dozens of white, pink, and blue threads. The threads function to keep the delicate pieces of paper together, but they also wander across the expanse of pages like thin trails recording the process of slowly sewing in and out until disparate lines meet, completing the thought.
Amanda Wagstaff is currently an artist-in-residence with the New City Arts Initiative. She is a native Virginian and an alumna of the College of William and Mary. Last year, she earned her Master of Fine Arts degree from the University of North Carolina at Greensboro. She is currently exploring words, lines, and the poetic potential of ordinary materials in her studio at The Haven.
This exhibit is free and open to the public. The Haven is located at 112 W. Market St. Please enter through the main Sanctuary doors to see the exhibit.
