Laura Josephine Snyder has a Masters of Visual Arts from the Universidad Nacional Autónoma de México (2010) and a BFA in Printmaking from the Rhode Island School of Design (2006).
She was a 2013-14 Artist-in-Residence with New City Arts at the Haven in Charlottesville, Virginia. In 2018 she was an artist in residence at Estudio Nómada: Mas els Igols, Barcelona, Spain and at JOYA: arte + ecología AiR, Cortijada Los Gázquez, Almería, Spain.
Some of her most recent exhibitions include: "Field Notes", a solo exhibition at the Garage (2017, Charlottesville, VA) and "Souvenir" at the WVTF gallery (2014, Charlottesville, VA).
Laura creates drawings about memory, perception and cognition.
Over the course of weekly mapping sessions at The Haven, a local art space, a coffee shop, and city hall, Mara Sprafkin and Laura Snyder facilitated the creation of over 90 maps, providing a cumulative picture of our experiences of home.
