From April 4-April 27, 2014, New City Arts presents "Landscape as Myth II," paintings by Charlottesville artist Michael Heivly at The WVTF and Radio IQ Studio Gallery.
Michael Heivly is a Charlottesville-based artist whose exhibit title “Landscape as myth” refers to both the reality and illusion of the historic use of the earth to make and show nature and its constantly changing place in our lives. These works -- mostly from the late 1970s and early 1980s-- utilize soil from the earth to make the paint, as opposed to using paint to create the illusion of the landscape.
Presented by NPR, WVTF and Radio IQ, and New City Arts, our exhibit opening reception is sponsored by Feast! and Early Mountain Vineyards. The WVTF and Radio IQ Studio Gallery is located at 216 W. Water St.
