From June 2-30, New City Arts presents "Housing2Home," an exhibit about our collaborative program with the Haven featuring work from 21 local artists.
Housing2Home is a collaborative program between New City Arts and the Haven that helps recently housed, formerly homeless individuals make a home out of their new housing. Housing2Home clients are encouraged to make their own creative decisions as we help them spend a stipend to outfit their spaces. With a hand in each step of the process, clients choose everything from bed size, to microwave color, to how many seats to have at their kitchen table. Clients also work with local artists to commission artwork for their homes. June's exhibit at Welcome Gallery is an opportunity to see examples of client spaces and to learn more about the program.
We'll debut a film about Housing2Home made by Zaynah and Forrest Pando, photographs of client spaces taken by Andrea Hubbell, an interactive mural by Ryan Trott, and artwork by 17 local artists involved in the program, including Richard Moon, Edward Thomas, Madeleine Watkins, Sarah Miller, Eliza Evans, Annie Temmink, Ken Nagakui, Sarah Boyts Yoder, Ken Horne, Andrew Montgomery, Maggie Stein, Sarah Louise Dechow, Rebecca Graves, Tom Stephens, Brittany Fan, Roger Williams, and Sean Samoheyl.
