Ryan Trott is an elementary art educator, illustrator, artist and musician based in Charlottesville, Virginia. His work focuses on making connections between education, children’s art, illustration, and collaborative artmaking.
Emma Crockatt is British artist/illustrator based in Bristol. Working in a range of collage, drawing, pottery and painting, her work is greatly influenced by British Folk-Art and Mid-Century Design, finding interest and magic in simple everyday occurrences.
Emma and Ryan have collaborated long distance to create the ideas and themes presented at Welcome Gallery. The artists have bonded over a mutual interest in children’s artwork, storybook illustrations and craft/activity books. Look, Make & Do features artwork created individually by the two artists, as well as gallery specific mural installations including work created by local elementary students and participating visitors. The collages, drawings and paintings share common themes and subjects representing the natural world, everyday objects and the magic of creativity.
