From June 1-28, 2018, New City Arts, supported by The FUNd at CACF, presents TRIO, an exhibit of new paintings, drawings, and works on paper by Abby Kasonik.
ARTIST STATEMENT
In late 2016, we moved from the house and studio where I had lived and worked for almost 20 years; the space where I created the time-intensive large-scale paintings upon which I built my career.
Renovations on our new home forced a period of creative transition, necessitated by limitations of time and space, and the grand, quiet, atmospheric canvases were replaced by smaller, noisier, faster works on paper.
These works represent a period of changes and transitions; a period that ultimately produced three visually different, but thematically connected, bodies of work.
