Reshaping Memory: A Creative Writing Workshop with Sri Kodakalla

On Wednesday, October 11 at 6PM, join October exhibiting artist Sri Kodakalla for a creative writing workshop. An RSVP is required for this free workshop. Registration for this workshop is now closed.

Inspired by themes of memory, loss, and attachment, this free-form creative writing workshop will guide individuals through collaborative conversations and the beginnings of prose-writing. Through short mindful writing exercises and dialogue, attendees will explore their own personal attachment to narrative through mining memory.

Registration for this workshop is now closed. Space is still available for the October 21 workshop. Please email Lindsey@newcityarts.org if you have any questions.

Want to attend this workshop, but already have plans on October 11? Join Sri’s workshop on October 21!

Currently based in Charlottesville, VA, Sri Kodakalla (they/them) is a South Asian interdisciplinary artist, community organizer, and covetor of all things tiny & memorable. Their multimodal creative work combines mixed-media visual art, writing, and research-based methodology to compose non-narrative dream-like evocations of memories, often depicting facets of their immigration experience, cultural homecoming, and familial oral stories. Their work has been exhibited nationally in several solo and group exhibitions, most notably at Second Street Gallery and 934 Gallery. Sri’s exhibition, growing out of season, will be on view at Welcome Gallery from October 6-26, 2023.
